  • No. Typically, there is a lot of money left on the table when a policyholder attempts to settle their own claim. For the same reason you retain the services of a CPA to make the most out of your tax filings, you should retain the services of a public adjuster. One of the worst things is when a policyholder receives their settlement only to find out later that certain expenses were not covered and must be paid for out-of-pocket. A good public adjuster will make sure that everything is noted and accounted for, even down to the smallest knick-knack that needs replacement. Our experience tells us that even after taking a good public adjuster’s fee and your deductible out of your settlement, you are still left with more than if you went about it on your own.

  • No. Your rates will not be affected by hiring First Response Public Adjusting any more than if you attempted to settle the claim on your own. This is all the more reason to make sure you are getting paid the full amount you are owed.

  • Technically nothing. Our competitive rates are based directly on a percentage of the claim. We don’t get paid until you get paid. We will work out our fees with you before any work is started and we will spell it out on your contract. You pay nothing out-of-pocket, and nothing until the claim is settled. As mentioned before, our experience has shown that even after taking our fees and your deductible out of the settlement, you will still be left with more than if you went about it alone.

  • No two claims are exactly the same. But, typically, we will have one of our licensed adjusters meet you at the loss site to survey the damage. We will advise you on any actions you need to take. For instance — it is the responsibility of the policyholder to take preventative measures to guard against further loss. We notify your insurance company that we are representing you in your claim and will handle all of the communications to assure that the insurance company is keeping with guidelines and timelines established by the Insurance Commission. We prepare and file a proof of loss with your insurance company and will meet with their staff/independent adjuster at the loss site. We will then negotiate with the insurance company to assure that you receive a fair settlement. This can include meetings, phone calls, emails, filing additional documents or, in extreme cases, even arbitration or other legal action. No matter what, we keep you advised every step of the way and notify you of any potential settlements prior to any agreement being made. We will also file the certificate of completion to assure that your final depreciation is released.

  • The best time to obtain our services is always in the beginning. Time is of the essence when dealing with insurance claims. We can be there to make sure that all timelines are followed and the policy is adhered to. Evidence can be overlooked and lost over time, which can have a negative impact on the settlement. Having a professional from the beginning can also shorten the amount of time it takes to receive a proper settlement. While the beginning is the optimal time, we can still join you and offer our assistance at any point during the process. We can still help even if your settlement has been closed or was flat-out denied. Call us today for a free, no-obligation consultation and see if we are the best match for you.

  • Yes, your personal property can be covered and also the damage to the property do to a break in.
